Does the completion of a CFI practical test count for a flight review under 61.56? |

You can tell wbeard52 is a flight instructor because they relish asking head-scratcher requirement questions. ;) This post from AskACFI gave me a very surprising answer.
There's a trick though, the post does say you can ask your Designated Examiner (DE) to give you your Biennial Flight Review (BFR) in conjunction. As long as the oral exam and practical cover an hour of flight review and ground school and your DE makes a separate endorsement in your logbook for the review. This was one of the things I learned while studying for my CFI practical test. I took the information back to my flight school and most of the CFI's there weren't in compliance with the flight review requirements. I make it a point now to share this information. Great job on getting the evidence to support this answer. I really appreciate it. I forgot to mention that although the specific practical test is not good for a flight review. It is creditable as an "Initial Flight Instructor Certification Test" under the new Pilot Proficiency Wings Program. Login to www.faasafety.gov, request validation from a CFI and receive enough credits to qualify for the Master wings phase. This will give you a new flight review valid for two years. So in the end, the CFI practical test can be counted towards the requirements of the flight review... just under the wings program or having the DPE sign off the flight review. |
