What are outflows and what weather phenomenon are they associated with? What are the dangers present to aircraft when outflows are nearby?

Outflow refers to an outflow of air ahead of a thunderstorm. As the rain/hail descends, it pushes air with it, which hits the ground and moves outward. If I'm not mistaken, outflow is the most common cause of a gust front immediately before a thunderstorm. Presents obvious dangers to aircraft in the form of wind shear, as well as downdrafts that can easily exceed climb capability and turbulence.
