In a previous question by Sean, we learned that you need to inform the FAA of a change in permanent mailing address within 30 days of the move. However what if the pilot does not have a permanent mailing address (he or she is in the process of moving, or living in a mobile home)? What address can they provide?

Bonus: Can a pilot provide a PO Box as their address?

The pilot can use a PO box on their license as well as where they receive official FAA mail. However, the actual location of your residence must be provided to the FAA under the regulations. It is acceptable to draw a legible map to identify exactly where you currently living.

The regulations require that you notify the FAA within 30 days of a permanent address change. Unfortunately, the FAA hasn't clearly defined what a permanent address is. There are pilots whose permanent address is with their parents house so they don't have to keep changing addresses with the FAA. I don't think that complies with the intent of the law though.
